Investigation underway as Cory employee dies after CA site accident

An investigation is underway by the Health and Safety Executive into an accident at the Whitfield transfer station and civic amenity site in Dover, Kent which is operated by Cory Environmental.

The accident happened on Saturday and the employee involved died in hospital today (January 14). Cory would not comment on the nature of the accident although reports from the site say that the accident involved an air conditioning unit falling from an excavator bucket.

Mr Jon Steggles general manager of Cory Environmental said the company extends its condolences to his family and friends.

“As you might imagine there are a number of agencies currently involved in gathering all the facts surrounding this unfortunate accident. This includes the police, the HSE and our own health and safety investigation team. Until all these investigations have been completed I think it would be inappropriate to speculate as to the circumstances.”
