EMR Jersey donates £4000 to reusable nappy company

EMR Jersey, part of EMR Metals, has announced it has donated £4,000 to Carry in Cloth, a local company which provides parents on the island with reusable nappies.

It has reported that the money donated by EMR will be used to update Carry in Cloth’s kits and create 100 free nappy kits for new parents.

Kerri Thomas, depot manager of EMR Jersey, said: “At EMR, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, so Carry in Cloth’s project was a perfect fit for us. It truly is a remarkable mission which helps families save money and the environment.

“We strive to support the community in which we operate and are delighted to be able to support Carry in Cloth. Myself and everybody at EMR, would like to wish the organisation all the best on its mission!”


Heidelberg Materials acquires Mick George

Heidelberg Materials has announced it has completed its acquisition of recycling company Mick George, following approval from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).Hanson Mick George

CEO Simon Willis said: “I am delighted to confirm the completion of the acquisition of MGL, which is an exciting milestone for us. It is a strong fit and represents a major step as we embrace the opportunities the construction waste sector represents.

“It will allow us to drive the use of recycled aggregate in building materials and help us reach our target to offer circular alternatives for half of our concrete products by 2030.”


SSI Schaefer Plastics release new bin

SSI Schaefer Plastics have announced the release of its food waste bin and wheeled bin security frame.

The frames are designed for multi-occupancy housing and public areas and each wheeled bin is supplied with a reduced aperture plate inside the bin body to prevent contamination and a foot-operated lid opener.

The aperture plate can be unlocked by the collection crews at the time of emptying and then locked again afterwards.

Along with the aperture plates, the foot-operated lid openers are fixed to the bin whilst being emptied.


Sweeptech acquires Go Plant

Road sweeping and waste management services company, Sweeptech, has announced that it had acquired Go Plant.

Sweeptech has said the acquisition “will benefit Go Plant’s existing customers, with enhanced service levels”.

By integrating Go Plant’s operations, Sweeptech now has a network of depots spanning the North East, North West, Yorkshire, The Midlands, London, the South and South East.
