International experts to advise on London&#39s recycling

A team of international experts has been assembled to help improve recycling and waste management strategy for London as it hosts the 2012 Olympic Games.

Public-private market development organisation London Remade will draw on experience from Australia, Seattle, Stockholm and Barcelona as well as the UK to develop its plans to boost London's waste future.

” Our Australian and Spanish counterparts in particular will play a major role in helping London Remade to ensure the 2012 Olympic Games is the most sustainable event ever. “
– Daniel Silverstone, London Remade

Hailing a new relationship with the Olympic Organising Committee, London Remade chief executive Daniel Silverstone said the capital needed to form global partnerships to meet the challenges ahead.

Members of the international panel will include representatives from the Waste Management Association of Austrialia, Seattle waste firm The Dougherty Group, Stockholm-based eco-label organisation TCO Development and the regional waste authority of Barcelona, CCR.

Mr Silverstone said: “This year marks the start of an exciting new relationship with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and our Australian and Spanish counterparts in particular will play a major role in helping London Remade to ensure the 2012 Olympic Games is the most sustainable event ever held in Europe.”
