‘35 under 35’ awards open for entries

Letsrecycle.com’s ‘35 under 35’ awards, which recognise high-achieving under 35-year-olds from across the waste sector, are now open to entries for 2022.

This year, the awards will be held for the first time in their own dedicated area at the RWM Letsrecycle Live show at the NEC Birmingham on 14 September.

Sponsored by Grundon Waste Management, the awards are open exclusively to those who work in the waste, recycling, or organics industries.

The awards recognise the rising stars in the sector and those striving for professional excellence, promoting industry innovation, and giving back to their company or community.

The scheme provides a springboard for career progression, giving industry-wide recognition for professional competency while highlighting the passion and dedication of the industry’s trailblazers.

Entries can be made by the nominee or another on their behalf. This year, the awards would like to see a real focus on and increase in nominations for peers to recognise their hard work and dedication.

To enter, those interested should submit 250 words and any supporting material here. The deadline for entries is 1 July.

People can publicly nominate their colleagues as part of a campaign on Linkedin here.

To qualify, the nominee must be 34 or under during this calendar year. Applications are judged retrospectively on the previous year.

Top three

Each year 35 under 35-year-olds are acknowledged by the scheme, with three individuals gaining “top three 35 under 35 status”.

At last year’s awards, this special accolade went to Ed Barnes of Urbaser, Molly Bell of Suez recycling and recovery UK, and Laura Paterson of Oxford Direct Services for their achievements during 2020 (see letsrecycle.com story).

The winners were presented with certificates at a ceremony at the Environmental Services Association’s garden in London in September 2021.
