Yotta to provide waste software to three Cambridgeshire councils

Technology developer Yotta has won a contract to provide software systems to support waste management and street cleansing services across three Cambridgeshire councils.

The contract was awarded by 3C ICT, a shared IT service between Cambridge city, Huntingdonshire and South Cambridgeshire district councils.

Yotta will provide the councils with its connected asset management software, ‘Alloy’, alongside its ‘Mayrise’ back office-management and in-cab system for waste services.

The ‘Alloy’ software enables the councils to respond to queries about the service faster and provide information gleaned in real-time from collection crews

The products enable the councils to respond to queries about the service faster and provide information gleaned in real-time from waste collection crews. The councils will also be able to use this data to make better strategic decisions about the services they offer in the future, Yotta says.

Commenting on the deal, Trevor Nicoll, head of waste resources at South Cambridgeshire district council, said: “With the use of sensors and the Internet of Things becoming increasingly key to councils, the exciting connected asset management capability that Alloy delivers is likely to be increasingly fundamental to our work going forward.”

Shared service

The deal will see the software rolled out for waste management in Cambridge city and South Cambridgeshire district council, which are responsible for waste through the Greater Cambridge Shared Waste Service, and for street cleansing in Huntingdonshire.

Steve White, software business development manager at Yotta, commented: “By better managing areas like waste collection, street cleansing and green spaces will help them deliver an improved service to the local public so we’re delighted that they have chosen our next generation connected asset management software to help them achieve these key strategic goals.”
