Former East London Waste Authority managing director Paul Taylor has been appointed executive director for the Veolia Environmental Trust.

Mr Taylor, who had previously served on the Trusts London and East panel since 2010, and as an independent member of the Board since 2012, was appointed to the post after the departure of McNabb Laurie in May this year.

Mr Taylor said: I am very pleased to be joining the team, having been associated with the Trust since 2006. I am looking forward to ensuring we operate as efficiently as possible and continue to make a positive contribution to a wide range of projects.

Commenting on Mr Taylors appointment, chairman of the Veolia Environmental Trust Mr Oswald A Dodds, MBE, added: I am sure that he will quickly pick up the detail of our processes and work well with our team of dedicated staff to add to the excellent way we help applicants deliver their projects.

Vince Cable appoints GIB independent senior director

Business Secretary Vince Cable has appointed Tony Poulter as senior independent director at the UK Green Investment Bank (GIB).

Replacing Sir Adrian Montague in the role, Mr Poulter is a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he will continue to holds his position as global head of consulting alongside his responsibilities for GIB.

Business Secretary Vince Cable said: I am very pleased to appoint Tony Poulter as Senior Independent Director of GIB.

His knowledge of infrastructure investment makes him ideal for the role. GIB was established by government to accelerate the UK’s transition to a greener economy and Tony will have an important role to play.

GIB chairman Lord Smith of Kelvin added: Tony brings a strong track record of leadership in infrastructure investment and I look forward to working closely with him to build on the positive start GIB has made in its first financial year.

Axion announces new additions to team

Cheshire-based resource recovery firm Axion Consulting has appointed Jessica Stewart project consultant across its carpet and WEEE recycling and broader research initiatives.

Commenting on her new role, Ms Stewart said: Axion takes a dynamic and highly-innovative approach to the resource recovery and recycling of a variety of materials.

Its an inspiring environment and Im looking forward to developing my skills and helping to expand Axions services further as part of this great team.

Manchester University graduate Callum Moran has also joined Axion as marketing assistant, developing social media, online and promotional activities for the company.

Blue Parts managers complete cycle for charity

Employees of recycling equipment manufacturer Blue Parts have raised over 5,000 for Cancer Research UK taking part in a charity cycle ride.

The team, which consisted of managing director Sean Warburton and sales manager Chris Thomas, took to the saddle for the 280 mile ride from their Warrington head office to the Blue London office in Guildford.

Speaking about the achievement, Mr Warburton said: The Blue Spares team has long been considering how it could give something back to the community and with a recycling background wanted to do something that tied in with our Green ethos.
