Norfolk paper recycler charged over worker&#39s death

The owner of a paper recycling plant in Norfolk has been charged with manslaughter over the death of one of his workers.

Paul White, 42, of MW White Ltd, was charged with manslaughter “in regard to his corporate responsibility” at Bethel Street Police Station on Wednesday, and released on bail.

The charge follows a police and HSE investigation into a fatal accident that killed father-of-three Kevin Arnup at the Ketteringham site in December 2003.

Mr White is due to appear before Norwich Magistrates on Tuesday, October 12.

A police spokeswoman confirmed: “The corporate manslaughter charge relates to the death of Kevin Arnup, 37, who died at the MW White premises on Monday, December 22, last year. It follows a joint investigation carried out by detectives from Norfolk Constabulary and the Health and Safety Executive.”

Mr Arnup is thought to have died at the premises of the Norfolk paper recycler when he entered a paper hogging machine to make adjustments without the power supply being properly disabled.
