Bmi announces ‘smart trailer’

Waste vehicle manufacturer Bmi has announced its first ‘smart trailer’.

The smart trailer allows information to be provided in real time to smart phones

The company said that the new design uses the latest developments in telematics and has digital sensors that monitors data relevant to the trailer’s performance.

This allows for information to be provided on smart phones, tablets and internet portals, the company says.

Features of the trailer include 7mm durable cargo floor, heavy duty SAF axles with auto type inflation system, powered retractable bulkhead, full length dome chassis and high grade steel top-rails.

Bunting launches  ElectroStatic Separator

Separator manufacturer Bunting have launched a new ElectroStatic separator in response to “enhanced material separation requirements in the recycling, plastics and minerals industries”.

The separator uses tungsten electrode wire to generate electrostatic charges to separate dry liberated particles.

Bunting said the new technology broadens separation capabilities, “opening up new opportunities for recovering materials from waste and optimising mineral reserves”.

The company explains that ElectroStatic Separation exploits the difference in electrical conductivity between various materials in a feed material to produce a separation.

It notes: “The separation depends on a number of key material characteristics including conductivity, moisture content and size range.  In many applications, often due to the fine particle size, the ElectroStatic Separator is the only technology that enables a separation (e.g. -2mm granulated cable scrap).  The technology also replaces less environmentally friendly separation processes such as froth flotation in mineral processing applications (e.g. separation of rutile from silica sand).”

Tana releases two landfill compactor models

Finnish manufacturer Tana has announced that the first models – the H260eco and H320eco – of its new landfill compacters are available.

Two models of the landfill compactors have been released

The models consist of twin drums, a  rigid frame and crushing teeth and are “manufactured for durability”, the company says.

Tana added that the machines can handle waste on landfill sites in a “cost-efficient way, providing better compaction and waste treatment capacity with lower operating costs”.

The design includes new features such as a more spacious cab, new AC/heater uni , more powerful working lights and a more comfortable seat.

Yotta’s waste solution rolled out in Netherlands

Netherland based IT and services consultancy Van Der Meijan have partnered up with Yotta to “address the needs of the Dutch waste industry”.

The system will be available to municipal waste companies and waste collection agencies

Under the terms of agreement, VDM management will offer Yotta’s asset management software suit, Alloy, to local and regional authorise across the Netherlands as a solution for waste management.

VDM will be focusing on selling Alloy as a waste management tool into waste departments in local authorities, municipal waste companies and waste collector agencies across the Netherlands.

Anique Bravenboer, alliance manager at Yotta said: “We currently have a strong focus on using Alloy as a tool for connected waste management and we are looking for waste management partners to support us in the different territories worldwide.”
