Ashworths Products Ltd went into administration with its sister company Fresco Oils and Fats at the end of October. The company had lost its main customer, Irish company Kerry Foods.

Doncaster-based food waste and rendering company PDM Group has agreed to acquire Ashworths Products from the administrator Robson Rhodes LLP.
The acquisition includes a collection service and specialised treatment plant at Accrington, Lancashire, which is capable of recycling 1,000 tonnes of used oils each week into bio-diesel. The business has a turnover of about 8.3 million and is to be incorporated into the PDM Group's renewable energy division.
The PDM Group hopes the acquisition will strengthen the company’s presence in the vegetable oil recycling market, providing a complete processing and recycling service for oils and fats, the company said.

PDM bio-fuels development manager Philip Simpson said: “The continued development and expansion of renewable energy and bio-fuel production is central to PDM Group’s long-term business strategy, but the acquisition also allows us to offer collection and processing of used cooking oils alongside our existing market-leading nationwide food waste recycling services.”
As well as providing bio-fuels for the company's own renewable energy power plants, PDM Group will use the acquisition as a platform to develop the supply of raw material to partners in the rapidly expanding bio-diesel production sector.
