Autobreakers.co.uk launches car part reuse scheme

Lancashire-based vehicle recycler Autobreakers.co.uk has announced the launch of two new reuse services for old automobile equipment.

The company has introduced a “part-worn” bay at its vehicle breaking centre in Kent Street, Preston – as well as a new facility that enables customers to buy alloy wheels on-line or over the counter.

An array of tyres for cars of all types is available from the bay and Autobreakers.co.uk has said that it is possible to supply them with or without wheels. A fitting and balancing service is also available.

Tyres are checked by the company before being offered for reuse, the cost per tyre starts at 8. Customers are also able to browse its alloy wheel range at the yard, or on the website. Prices for the alloy wheels start at 100 for a set of four.

Alasdair Jackson, commercial manager at Autobreakers.co.uk, said: “We recycle thousands of cars every year and we recover as much of them as we possibly can – including bodywork, engine components and interior trim. Offering part worn tyres and alloy wheels for resale is just an extension of the same process.

“We are confident that the new service will be well received. In reality, we have been selling professionally salvaged tyres and wheels for quite some time, but this is the first time that we have been able to do it via the website and from a specially developed depot,” he added.

Mr Jackson also said that the company hoped to become a mainstream supplier of tyres and wheels, rather than just to car DIY experts.
