In her new position Ms Barratt will lead both the area manager team which sources materials from across the UK in addition to her existing operations team. This joint approach is hoped to provide a management link between the supply and production teams.

Ms Barratt will succeed current head of recycling at Aylesford, Andrew Perkins, who is to join cardboard recycler and corrugated packaging manufacturer Smurfit Kappa as the commercial head of its recycling division in December 2011 (see letsrecycle.com story).

Ms Barratt joined Aylesford in 2006 from Guildford borough councils recycling department. She has also previously worked for Surrey Waste Management, now SITA Surrey. Ms Barratts current role at Aylesford is recycling operations manager responsible for the recovered fibre store and management of recovered paper on the site.

I will have an excellent team both out in the field and at the mill whose combined efforts will be focused on supporting our suppliers and partners, both existing and new, building relationships to secure the continuous supply of good quality material and ensuring Aylesfords enduring reputation for service excellence is maintained, Ms Barratt said.

She also stressed that her experience in the company would help minimise the disruption to operations between suppliers and partners: Because Ive been with Aylesford for the last five years and have worked closely not only with current head of recycling, Andrew Perkins, but the entire recycling team, were all aligned in how the department works and how it will move forward.
