The market development organisation is offering an open tender for individual companies or groups of experts to analyse the UK manufacturing industry and chances for converting manufacturers to recycled raw materials.
The study forms part of WRAP's manufacturing programme, which is aiming at a mind-set shift in the industry towards replacing the use of virgin materials with recycled.
Gerrard Fisher, WRAP's manufacturing development project manager, said: “This is an exciting part of WRAP's new business plan which aims to deliver major projects that switch the industry to buying recycled raw materials.
“Many organisations are now practicing good management of their recyclable wastes and reducing the amount they landfill, now we are targeting manufacturing companies to significantly increase the recycled content of their products and help close the loop in the UK,” he added.

The studies will take the form of two phases: a general analysis or “scoping study” of manufacturing in the UK; and a detailed assessment of significant opportunities for converting manufacturers to specify recycled raw materials.
Full details of how to apply and the timetable are available on the WRAP website, with the closing date for applications July 3, 2006.
