Stephen Creed is WRAP's latest appointment and will deliver WRAP's procurement and financial mechanisms programme. Mr Creed will look at the barriers to overcoming the inertia factor in business purchasing and stimulate 'green' procurement. Mr Creed has more than ten years’ experience in business consultancy and before setting up his own consultancyr, he was the managing director of the Casella Group’s 19million turnover environmental consultancy division.
WRAP chief executive Jennie Price said: “In addition to his background in engineering and experience in the oil, construction and environmental sectors, Stephen also has a long track record of success in the consultancy sector and brings a strong combination of high level business and environmental experience to the post. I am sure he will make a major contribution to WRAP’s success.”
Mr Creed will deliver WRAP’s procurement programme, which aims to stimulate private and public sector purchase of recycled goods and materials, and the financial mechanisms programme, which has been developed to improve the economics of recycling and has a target to attract 10million a year of additional investment in the recycling sector. His work will focus on developing WRAP’s Business Development Service, which aims to bring together funders and recycling businesses.
Mr Creed said: “Sustainable development is finding its place on the corporate agenda and WRAP’s aim is to underpin the growing recognition in both the public and the private sectors that using and purchasing recycled materials and products makes good business sense. Increasing levels of recycling and encouraging environmentally responsible procurement are key areas in which WRAP intends to make significant improvements through its procurement and financial mechanisms programmes.”
