Sutco UK’s ability to provide a quality plant that was compact in design to fit into the existing building but was still able to offer flexibility to the meet the changing waste world. Sutco where asked to guarantee the availability of the plant to a minimum 90%. Through Sutco’s experience of providing this type of plant and using equipment that has low maintenance requirements, and choosing partners with the same uptime mentality Sutco UK have achieved and exceeded this target.

Pre-shredder

Material it dropped on the reception floor of the building then loaded into a pre shredder that shredded the material to 300mm. the material then passes through a Trommel where 60mm material is removed and passes under a magnet to remove any metals. Meanwhile any larger material is conveyed back to the reception hall and if required can pass through the shredder again.

The 60 to 300mm material then passes through an Air Box that separates the material using density into light medium and heavy material. The separated heavy material passes under a magnet and any metal is removed. The separated light material passes to the rear of the Air Box and is transported straight to the post shredder.

Separator

The medium materials pass over an Eddy Current Separator that removes non ferrous material. The pass through a picking cabin that any dense plastics or wet cardboard can be removed. Finally it passes under a magnet to remove any metal, before passing through the post shredder with the light material.

Once the material has passed through the post shredder and sized correctly the material passes an NIR unit that checks the Chlorine, moisture content as well as the calorific value of the SRF, this information is fed back to the picking cabin where adjustments to what is picked can be made if required. The material is conveyed to a storage area awaiting collection to the Cement works.

Sutco UK started the build in November 2012 and as commissioning was taking place in March 2013 Cemex started accepting the SRF. Throughout the project the expellant working relationship with Sita the plant was delivered on time and in Budget.
