Shanks senior technical director Robin Reid dies

Robin Reid, the senior technical director at Shanks, has died at the age of 50.

Mr Reid had been with the company for 14 years and was widely respected in the industry. He passed away at his home on Saturday after suffering a suspected heart attack, although the cause of death is yet to be officially confirmed.

A spokesperson from Shanks said: “Robin's death has come as an unfortunate and unexpected natural tragedy. He was a very popular and well-respected member of staff.”

A keen golfer with a background in civil engineering, Mr Reid leaves a wife, Pam, and two teenage sons, David and Andrew.

A funeral will be held on Tuesday in Glasgow, Mr Reid's home town, and will be attended by close friends and family as well as a small representation from Shanks. The Milton Keynes-based company hopes to organise a separate memorial service at a later date, with the family's permission.
