Supplied by Kellands (Plant Sales) Ltd, the Doosan machines are part of an estimated 750,000 investment in ETMs screening and crushing facility at Durnford Quarry.

The loader and exacavator are abole to convert up to 250 tonnes of inert waste and aggregates per hour, allowing the firm to provide a wider range of recycled aggregates and topsoil to the highest grade.

Amy McCormack, business and marketing manager at ETM, said: We are very pleased with the high performance and reliability of the new Doosan equipment together with their lower running costs, all of which contributes to an increase in efficiency throughout our business, allowing us to offer an enhanced service for companies and local authorities throughout the area.

TOMRA Compaction unveils new baler line

TOMRA Compaction has launched ORWAK POWER, a new range of four balers for recyclable waste material.

The balers, which are based on a reverse compaction technique, enables operation through short cycle times, autostart and a fast shutter that goes up in less than two seconds.

The balers will refer to as Black Star Technology, is based on the reverse technique of pulling the press plate downwards to compact the material instead of the traditional way of pushing it.

The advantage of turning it around is that the cylinders are at its strongest point when the poressure peaks.

The balers also have the capacity for data storage, communication and technical machine monitoring.

The arrival of the 15 tonne shovel coincides with an additional investment at MSKs facility increasing the number of bays and picking lines in a bid to boost recycling rates.
The shovel has been specified for the application including the long boom option giving a generous forward dump reach, a high tip bucket, foam filled L5 tyres, windscreen guarding and underbelly plates.

Operations manager Mark Levett said: Opting for the smaller L90G has meant we gain better manoeuvrability on our fairly confined site and in terms of power and production output it easily meets and often exceeds what we were achieving with the larger machine.

From a performance and an after sales support perspective, Volvo wins hands down in my opinion and being around loading shovels for a long time I can state that quite categorically.

Ace Liftaway increases waste vehicle fleet

Romsey-based Ace Liftaway has increased the size of its waste fleet with a remanufactured vehicle from Refuse Vehicle Solutions (RVS).

RVS specialises in revitalising second hand dust-carts, stripping them down and replacing or repairing worn and defective parts, to provide high quality as-new vehicles.

Ace provided a brand new DAF chassis to RVS, which the firm then fitted a remanufactured phoenix 2 body and re-manufactured Beta 2 Trade bin lift.

The 26-tonne RCV is the firms largest to date, and it hopes the move will pave the way for further expansion.

Philip Liddell, managing director of Ace Liftaway said: RVS came recommended and I can understand why. The vehicle is immaculate and the service has been superb. I wouldnt hesitate to go back again when we need another vehicle.

With 35 extra stores planned for 2014, the company hopes to boost its recycling rate at the Doncaster site, which handles backhauled distribution and packaging waste.

The second machine from Middleton is a fully-automatic HB60HM horizontal baler and integrated solider bed conveyor solution. With a press force of 60 tonnes, the machine can produce compact bales of card and plastics to sell on to reprocessors.

Peter Adlard, facilities manager from DHL on behalf of The Range, said: Without the balers, storage areas would rapidly fill with waste, causing consequences for stock deliveries, so minimal downtime is essential. The addition of a three year service contract with next day response ensures added peace of mind.
