Responding to a survey of its members, the scheme is offering a gold and a silver service – both with a “distinct and enhanced” level of service.
Existing members will be automatically entered into Onyxpak's silver service when they renew their membership, allowing them access to a special section of the scheme's website, a twice-yearly colour magazine and a telephone helpline for advice on packaging regulations.
Gold members will have regular review meetings with an Onyxpak specialist to deal with legislative or technical developments. They will also be invited to executive seminars and will have access to the scheme's consultancy services as well as pre-audit packaging waste inspections.
Martin Bonser, Onyxpak's compliance scheme manager, explained: “An independent survey, commissioned by Onyx, revealed that as the legislative impact of packaging waste increased, businesses were demanding an even greater level of guidance and expertise from their compliance schemes.”
Launched in 1997, Onyxpak now has around 350 packaging waste producers as registered members, obligated to recover and recycle packaging under the UK packaging waste regulations (see letsrecycle.com legislation section).
