The provider of mental health and community healthcare services began working with Keenan Recycling in June 2022 and up to the end of its 2023/24 financial year.
Anaerobic digestion (AD) plants convert the material into renewable energy, and Keenan Recycling says that the 150 tonnes is enough to power 15 homes or 900 televisions non-stop for 12 months.

Graham White, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s waste and environmental manager, said: “The fact that we have gone from collections at three of our sites to 12 suggests how impressed we are with the service provided by Keenan.
“The fact that they offer accurate weight data, which is not something all companies in the sector do, is incredibly helpful for our plans and processes.
“It’s not just that we know we’ve produced more than 100 tonnes of food waste between 1 April 2023 and the end of March 2024, but that we identify where it is being created.
“For example, Rampton is our biggest site, it has a third of the bins we use, and has produced 51 of those 102 tonnes.
“This is key to our efficiency, and with the help of Keenan we can move bins around various sites or increase/decrease the quantity as needed.”
White continued: “The information we have gathered surprised us when it came to the café at head office, for example.
“It is only a small operation, but it was producing more waste than we expected so we can look at how the café operates and whether we can make operational changes to help with reducing the quantity of waste.
“There is another site that we know has bins collected that are regularly overweight. From the data we’ve seen that they are only using two or three of the four available.
“We can go to this site with the information and from there we can improve the processes we have in place.”
