The design includes breaking bars which are said to offer great assistance in changing final product size, reducing undesirable dust, or just protecting crucial elements of the shredder.

When it comes to equipment that is fitted as standard, Global said that the MRW 2.1010 shredder is a turnkey solution. Standard equipment includes: a central lubrication system eliminating the need for time-consuming greasing and ensuring greasing is never neglected; a remote control which operates all essential features from a safe distance to the machine; reversible fans which prevent the clogging up of the hydraulic oil and engine coolers; work illumination lights and sound reduction techniques.

Machinex celebrates 50th anniversary

Machinex is celebrating its 50th anniversary as an equipment manufacturer and held a global virtual Open House from its Plessisville headquarters in Canada on 12 November.

The aim of the event was to share this unique moment with those who contributed to this achievement, the company said. Sales team members from the various Machinex branches located in the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom were also virtually part of the event, each in their respective offices. Pierre Paré, CEO of Machinex, surrounded by the masters of ceremony, its kids, Jean-Michel and Anne-Marie Paré, both recently started to work for the company.

The agenda started with a glimpse into the evolution of Machinex and its accomplishments over 50 years in business. After, attendees had exclusive virtual access to the recently modernised manufacturing facilities and some sessions covering critical pieces of equipment, all manufactured by Machinex, found in high-performance sorting systems such as balers, ballistic separators, optical sorters, and robots.

Thanks to GFL, said the company, who opened their Winnipeg MRF to us for an exclusive guided tour of their state-of-the-art sorting system provided by Machinex. Finally, Machinex inaugurated its brand new building, the Technology Hub, that will host its latest technologies such as optics and robots.

Praise for Machinex in the UK came from Suez for equipment at its Landau Street MRF, Birmingham and from UPM for its MRF in Shotton.

The last word was from Machinex CEO, Pierre Paré, who ended the event by thanking all of his customers, partners, and dedicated employees who all contributed to this success. The event was a great success, said the company since customers and partners appreciate discovering all the facets of Machinex, in all its authenticity that makes this company unique and prosperous.

Storm lifts the lid on its new product

Storm Environmental says it continues to innovate within the waste container industry  with the unveiling of its latest product, what it calls “a first-of-its-kind lightweight but heavy-duty steel lid”.

The  steel lid is an optional feature when purchasing Storm’s 1100 and 1280 litre containers. It features smooth edges to protect those using it, and even with the extra sturdiness, it is comparable in weight to Storm’s plastic lid. The steel lid will also contain any waste fires by starving the fire of oxygen, so any fire will quickly extinguish itself without spreading further, said Storm.

As with all of Storm’s steel products, the new lid goes through a hot dip  galvanizing process to ensure that it is protected from the elements, extending the life of the steel and preventing it from succumbing to rust. “With many risks posed to unprotected steel, Storm want their clients to be assured that the steel on their bins will remain in top condition for a very long time,” the company said.

Sales Director Archie Logan says “The new steel lid is a game changer in our industry. We have invested a lot of time and money into research and development to launch the first steel lid bin manufactured in the UK, and our innovative manufacturing capabilities have allowed a number of unique benefits to surface.”

Panasonic Partners with Yotta

Panasonic has announced a partnership with connected asset management software and services provider YOTTA, to provide a new end-to-end solution for environmental services organisations to manage their infrastructure.

The companies said that YOTTA’s Alloy application and Panasonic’s rugged Android TOUGHBOOK devices are ideal for helping organisations use data and the latest Internet of Things (IoT) sensor and control technologies to transform the way they deliver services. These services can include waste and recycling, green space maintenance, street cleansing, highways, fleet and estate management and environmental health inspections and licensing.

Yotta and Panasonic are now partners

YOTTA’s Alloy platform, said the company, seamlessly integrates processes by connecting assets (anything from streetlights and rubbish bins to individual premises or trees in the park) to systems and people to optimise operational performance and improve efficiencies.

“Connected asset management is the foundation for managing modern smart communities and the starting point for local authorities and other organisations looking to transform the way they efficiently and effectively deliver their services,” said Anique Bravenboer, alliance manager, at YOTTA.
