The “Choose2reuse” campaign will be launched by the Association of Charity Shops in January, when people are thinking about what to do with unwanted gifts and or items replaced in the January sales.
” We all have a part to play in making sustainable development a reality, and I urge people to get involved in initiatives like “Choose2reuse”.“
– Elliot Morley
Charities located within the Anglia region are now being offered the opportunity to sign up for free posters and other promotional materials to use in any of the 750 charity shops in the area.
The project will also see charities seeking volunteers to take part in re-use activities through a “Re-use Champion” programme.
The project aims to increase both the quality of donated goods and the number of people buying second hand items.
The campaign is being delivered in partnership with the Cambridgeshire and Essex Community Reuse and Recycling Networks and has received financial backing from Defra through a three-year 111,000 Environment Action Fund grant.

Lending his support to the project, environment minister Elliot Morley said: “Choose2reuse, which Defra is backing with an Environmental Action Fund grant, seeks to encourage reuse and recycling, in a way that visibly benefits communities.
“We all have a part to play in making sustainable development a reality, and I urge people to get involved in initiatives like 'C;hoose2reuse', that make real difference to real people,” the minister said.
