The figures show that the UK reprocessed a total of 1,411,337 tonnes of packaging waste in the third quarter of 2004, 31,472 tonnes up on the second quarter of the year.
Initially, experts believe the figures show few major surprises, but confirm the state of the industry as shown by reprocessing figures in the second quarter of 2004 (see letsrecycle.com story).
This suggests that the UK will meet its overall recovery targets and material-specific recycling targets, but there could be a problem in meeting the plastic packaging waste target this year.
