Industry-leading firms set for ELV recycling event

Leading companies in the metal reprocessing, end-of-life vehicle (ELV) and related industries are set to attend the Europes biggest ELV recycling trade event in Doncaster next month.

Sponsored by FAB Recycling Limited, JCB, JMC Recycling Systems and Remove My Car, CARS offers attendees the opportunity to learn about legal, commercial and technical issues for scrap metal dealers and vehicle dismantlers.

A key feature of CARS 2014 is the Duesmann and Hensel Conference Theatre with each session hosting a panel of expert speakers discussing key topics facing the sector. On the first day of the show, conference sessions have been developed with the bodyshop and related industries in mind, while the second day is geared towards those who work in the metals recycling sector.

Sessions include: the Green Parts Forum; Meeting 2015 ELV targets; and Making business sense of the 2013 Scrap Metal Dealers Act.

Organised by the Environment Media Group, the inaugural CARS event in 2012 attracted over 76 exhibitors and more than 800 attendees from across 20 different countries, and with a packed programme of events and entertainment across two days, the 2014 show promises to be even bigger with visitors from 19 countries already registered.

Andy Latham, managing director of Salvage Wire and member of the Steering Committee for this years show, explained: The Steering Committee wanted to build on the success of the first show held at Hills in 2012. We feel that the UK auto recycling industry has been long neglected, and this is an exciting opportunity to pull all sectors of the industry together including processors of metals, non-metallics, remanufacturers and those that move the products around the country.

Industry-leading companies including Fiat Auto, Toyota, Volvo, BMW, Direct Line, Audatex and EMR are already registered to attend what will be a truly international event.

Support for CARS comes from a host of leading trade associations from across the UK, USA, Europe, Canada and Japan including Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA), British Metals Recyclers Association (BMRA), British Vehicle Salvage Federation (BVSF) and European Group of Automotive Recycling Associations (EGARA).

Nigel Dove, CEO of Vortex Depollution and fellow member of the steering committee, added: Without the opportunity for manufacturers to show what their products do it is very easy for ATFs and vehicle dismantlers to miss the latest technical developments that can significantly save them money or increase their profitability. You can read articles and see adverts but from a manufacturers perspective, nothing comes close to actually showing your customers what you can do for them.
