Trading as both Gurteen Recycling and Gurteen Transport, the business collected recyclable materials from more than 1,500 sites across Scotland and the North East of England.

The company, headquartered in Killingworth, Tyne and Wear, was established in 2012 by Managing Director Paul Gurteen and held an operating licence for 15 trucks and eight trailers.

In addition to its recycling services, Gurteen Recycling managed a 20,000 square foot warehouse in Newcastle and provided global and events logistics, pallet deliveries and stock management services.

Katriona Bennett, Commercial Director of Gurteen Recycling, commented: “After almost 13 years with Gurteen Recycling, yesterday we officially closed our doors and entered liquidation.

“It’s been an incredible journey – full of challenges, plenty of laughs, and countless memories.

“A huge thank you to Paul Gurteen and Tanja Gurteen – your support and leadership made it all possible. And to everyone we’ve worked with over the years – in the office, the warehouse, and on the road.

“This is a sad moment and a lot to process, but I’ll always be grateful for the experiences, the friendships, and the lessons learned over the past 13 years.”
