The outage is expected to last around three weeks, during which time commercial waste deliveries to the facility will be suspended.
Deliveries of household residual waste, however, will continue as usual.
According to the operator, the shutdown will enable a programme of inspections, maintenance, and cleaning to be carried out.
The work is described as essential to ensuring the facility continues to operate efficiently and reliably, while also meeting environmental standards set by the Environment Agency.
The EfW has already informed members of the Community Liaison Group and Gloucestershire County Council of the outage plans.
Rob Hayward, general manager of the Gloucestershire EfW, said: “Our annual maintenance outage is a vital part of our operations, allowing us to ensure that our facility runs safely, efficiently, and in an environmentally friendly manner.
“We appreciate the community’s support and understanding as we undertake these necessary measures to maintain our high standards of service.
“We look forward to resuming full operations and welcoming visitors again after this maintenance period.”
The Gloucestershire EfW, located at Javelin Park, processes household waste to generate energy.
The plant has been in operation since 2019 with a capacity of 190,000 tonnes per year. It was acquired by FCC Environment in 2024 as part of their acquisition of Urbaser.
