The terminal, sited at Aalborg Harbour, will be used for the import and national distribution of material including RDF and SRF from England, Ireland, Scotland and Germany.
Geminor UK is part of the Geminor Group, which has headquarters in Norway and offices in the Nordic countries, the UK and Germany. The Group handles in excess of 1,100,000 tonnes of waste annually for supply to energy-from-waste operators.
Terminal
The 2500 m2 terminal, which is now in full operation, will handle more than 30,000 tonnes of refused derived fuel and solid recovered fuel SRF each year. The facility will provide feedstock to energy recovery facilities across Denmark.
Tim Andersen, country manager at Geminor, said: “Opening a new terminal in Aalborg Harbour is another significant milestone for Geminor. The development outlines our intent to further expand the business across Denmark which, in time, will see additional facilities developed in Copenhagen and central Jutland.
“As a company, we work with clients worldwide, helping to eliminate landfill waste by exporting RDF/SRF materials – making use of return load transport – and turning them into renewable power through a network of more than 70 energy recovery facilities. Having our own logistics operation in Denmark, alongside continuing existing distribution partnerships, will help to further expand our capabilities and meet growing demand for energy recovery solutions.”
The Geminor Group also opened a new SRF and RDF bale storage and processing facility in Denmark this summer for the supply of 60,000 tonnes per annum (see letsrecycle.com story).
The company first began operations in Denmark in 2015, opening a base in Sondeborg, and aims to expand its operations into the country further.
