Futuresource to co-locate with procurement event

Visitors to the waste and recycling industry's showcase event, Futuresource 2010, will be able to attend an adjoining public sector procurement show after the organisers of both events signed a co-location deal.

The agreement means that Futuresource 2010, which runs from June 15 to 17, will be held alongside Guardian News & Media's two-day Public Procurement Show 2010 at London's ExCeL Centre in London's Docklands on June 15 and 16.

The Guardian News & Media (GNM) event will take place in an adjoining hall to the Futuresource event and registered visitors will be free to move between the two.

This is the second year of the Futuresource event, which is organised jointly by the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) and the Environmental Services Association (ESA).

Last year's event saw 7,500 people attend the three-day event in June 2009 despite strike action being called by London Underground workers (see letsrecycle.com story).

The Public Procurement Show is set to feature over 100 exhibitors covering topics ranging from information technology and office supplies to travel agencies and legal services.

Commenting on the arrangement, CIWM managing director, Sarah Poulter, said: “We are dedicated to providing the best service possible for exhibitors and this new co-location agreement is an example of this.

“Visitors to the Public Procurement Show are looking to achieve improvements in resource efficiency, collaborative procurement, and value for money – all central themes at Futuresource – and our exhibitors will be able to provide products, services and expertise to help them meet these challenges.”

Ms Poulter added that the co-location agreement means exhibitors will be able to create greater awareness of their products among public sector professionals through the promotion of the event in GNM media outlets, such as The Guardian newspaper.
