Machinex launches two-ram baler series
Machinex has launched a new series of balers, designed to maximize density and reduce running costs for materials recycling facility MRF operators, the company claims.
The Machinex II Ram Baler series increases the main ram cycle speed in both forward and reverse modes compared to previous models, and the pre-fill devices allows the balers to exceed the throughput of competitive equipment and significantly reduce energy consumption.
The baler series also offers exclusive design features for operational benefit to MRF managers Machinex claims, including bolt-on liners for ease of maintenance, a single-plate frame construction to provide maximum structural stability

Lowmac invests in BlueMAC recycling system
Lowmac Waste & Recycling has invested in a BlueMAC recycling plant, with the aim of producing a higher quality end-product from its existing facility.
The BlueMAC plant, installed at Lowmac’s recycling facilities in Irvine, is designed to combine a series of compatible processors and conveyor arrays in a compact under-cover configuration.
The system is capable of treating a broad range of mixed waste with high quality ‘material remediation.’
Currently processing a wide variety of incoming waste streams at around 1,000 tonnes per week, the North Ayrshire plant is more than capable of greater volumes should future needs arise, the company has stated.
Lowmac’s new plant is currently recycling offcuts and wood waste derived from kitchen manufacture, as well as trommel fines, C&D, C&I and ash waste.
Commenting on the new installation, Lowmac’s managing director Kenny Smith, said: “This plant is proving to be an excellent and versatile addition to our recycling and reclamation capabilities and is performing very well.

PLASgran takes delivery of injection moulding machine
Cambridgeshire plastics recycling business PLASgran has added to its investment in production capacity with a new injection moulding machine.
The 22-tonne BOY22A machine will allow faster production of colour plaques and test pieces for tensile, flexural and impact testing, and further enhances technical development capability, the company has said.
Managing director Mark Roberts said: “The arrival of this machine marks the most recent instalment of a long-term investment strategy to expand the capabilities of the business.
“It is our mission to provide the best quality, specified and quality controlled range of recycled materials to the plastics industry.”
The business, which has been trading since 1999, significantly expanded its processing capacity earlier in the year, with a £1.7 million investment in a new INTAREMA 2018 TVEplus RegrindPro compounding line.
Plasgran can now process flexible film grades, as well as their traditional base in rigid plastics, and have increased their compounding capacity to more than 30,000 tonnes per annum.

Aliweld showcases new safety & weighing system for tippers
Tipper body manufacturer, Aliweld Ltd has installed a combined vehicle safety & weighing system for tipper and tanker operators to its 25th anniversary vehicle.
The British-made LOADWEIGH system from Vehicle Weighing Solutions Ltd (VWS) comprises four load cells, an inclinometer to alert drivers if the vehicle is unstable and an intelligent junction box that provides live load data informing the driver how the load is dispersed.
Aliweld is attending truck shows around the country to showcase the special anniversary vehicle, including Truckfest Newark (16 -17 July), Truckfest Edinburgh (30-31 July), Barnard Castle Truck Show (27-28 August) and Truckfest Knutsford (17-18 September).
Trevor Marshall, director, Aliweld said: “A lot of operators have already told us they want the system fitted to their vehicles. It’s great because it has everything that you need to comply with the latest Quarry safety regulations as well as providing very accurate load and weight data.”
