letsrecycle.com is seeking applicants from councils, companies and the third sector ahead of the seventh annual Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management in London, on May 5 2010.

For the second year running the prestigious ceremony will take place at the Landmark Hotel in Marylebone, central London, with a champagne reception and three-course meal before the awards themselves.

The 2009 Award ceremony was hosted by television personality and newsreader Dermot Murnaghan, with the keynote address given by Lord Chris Smith, chairman of the Environment Agency (see letsrecycle.com story).

Over 200 representatives of the waste and recycling sector attended the event, which was supported by Defra's Waste Implementation Programme, the Environment Agency, the Environmental Services Association and the National Association of Waste Disposal Authorities.

The Awards were last held in October but have been moved from their former position due to the glut of awards ceremonies taking place in autumn (see letsrecycle.com story).

Steve Eminton, editor of letsrecycle.com, said: “These awards provide an opportunity for those in the waste management and recycling sector to showcase some of their greatest achievements.”
