Humberside Fire and Rescue Service were called to the blaze on a site owned by the local business DS Metals and Waste on the Dutch River Side at around 16:30 PM on Sunday.
The company is licensed by East Riding of Yorkshire council under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013.
The station manager tweeted below the extent of the fire.

Crews warned residents to keep windows closed and urged the public to avoid the area while it dealt with the blaze. They remained on the scene overnight and the blaze was brought under control the following day, but large amounts of smoke remained.
In an update this afternoon (20 April), the fire service said: “The fire in Old Goole now extinguished and crews are ensuring no ‘hotspots’ remain. Thank you to all our colleagues and partners involved in helping to bring the incident under control.”
However, the warning for residents to keep their windows closed and the public to avoid the area remains in place.
