The Kent-based group – which is comprised of Countrystyle, FGS Agri and FGS Plant – purchased the site off administrators in a deal which also includes a contract to compost kitchen waste for up to seven local authorities in Suffolk at the Parham facility.
Countrystyle Group claimed that the acquisition of the 35,000 tonnes capacity facility would increase its green and food waste processing capacity and complement its recently-opened in-vessel composting facility at Ridham Docks, near Sittingbourne, Kent.
Acquisition
The Parham facility was opened in 2005 following Bioganix's success in securing a ten year contract to process source separated kitchen waste in Suffolk.
Countrystyle Group explained that it intended to invest further in recycling technology at the site, in a similar manner to investment made at its Ridham facility. It forms part of the company's ongoing development plan and expansion of the company's work in East Anglia.
Countrystyle was closely assisted in the negotiation of the final deal by Vertex Law LLP and WK Finn Kelcey.
Bioganix was set up in 2001 following investment from farmer-owned group 7Y, and operated three in-vessel composting facilities between 2001 and 2009. However, in December 2008, the Herefordshire-based company announced that it was in discussions with third parties to buy the company or dispose of all business and assets of the organisation.
