Across three days (13-15 September), more than 13,000 visitors are expected to attend the show at Birmingham’s NEC, including council officers, waste contractors and consultants. More than 600 exhibitors are also expected to attend.
Seminars will be held across four main theatres, with speakers including the likes of Linda Crichton, head of resource management at WRAP, Lee Marshall, chief executive of the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC) and David Palmer-Jones, chief executive of SUEZ.
With hundreds of exhibitors attending this year’s show, many will be unveiling their latest technologies and products to visitors. letsrecycle.com takes a look at some of the different innovations on display at this year’s event.

Sentinel Systems
Commercial vehicle safety specialist Sentinel Systems will be exhibiting at the RWM Exhibition for the 10th year running, and will introduce its new generation of reversing radar systems to the refuse and waste market.
Based on Sentinel’s patented Auto-braking Reversing System, the new generation of radars improve performance whilst continuing to offer an accurate and reliable auto-braking device, which is particularly beneficial to refuse collection vehicles as it protects personnel working outside the vehicle.
This year Sentinel has worked with Midlothian Council to provide 4-camera systems to new food waste collection vehicles to assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the new service.

CDEnviro
Recycling equipment manufacturer CDEnviro will be showcasing its high frequency wet processing equipment for a wide range of materials that are typically hard to process.
The company’s experts will be on hand to explain how their designs can divert today’s waste products – including road sweepings and gully waste material, MRF fines, trommel waste fines and waste glass – from landfill to help develop a circular economy.

Bunting Magnetics
The Bunting Magnetics Europe stand will focus on demonstration with a fully operational HISC separating both stainless steel and printed circuit boards from non-magnetic materials.
The company will be showing visitors its metal separator technologies, including the High Intensity Separation Conveyor (HISC), Twin Pole Overband Magnet, Metal Separator (combined magnetic separator and metal detector), Grate Magnets, Plates Magnets and Tube Cartridge Magnets.

Cromwell Polythene
This year, Cromwell Polythene will be putting the focus on its multi-trip recycling bags, which are tailor-made for the convenient collection and storage of dry recyclables in flats and tenement buildings.
The woven polypropylene bags are 100 percent recyclable and can be printed with high quality, six-colour messaging.
Cromwell Polythene supplies a wide range of waste management and recycling products, including plain and printed refuse and recycling sack, kerbside recycling sacks, compostable sacks, wheeled bin liners and caddy liners, clinical waste sacks and other specialist products.

Dennis Eagle
Dennis Eagle will be presenting its new skip-loader at this year’s exhibition, alongside a trade waste vehicle incorporating an Elite 6 6×2 rear steer chassis with Olympus 23 body and Beta 2 bin lift, providing visitors with an opportunity to view the products and learn more about their features.
The skip-loader forms part of the company’s new Urban Safety Vehicle range, which is aimed at the construction market and was developed in conjunction with the Construction Logistics and Cyclist Safety (CLOCS) programme.

Serac UK
The Serac team will be available throughout the show to meet with anyone responsible for ensuring operational staff competency.
The company works with businesses to provide a range of health and safety training courses and CIWM / WAMITAB statutory and non-statutory waste qualifications— from treatment and transfer through to high, medium and low risk operator competency certificates.
Serac was recently acquired by Mentor Training – provider of training for all types of onsite operational equipment – and now offers a wider scope of services to help training and health and safety managers ensure competency for all operators onsite.

Plastic Omnium Environment
Producer and supplier of waste containerisation products for local authorities and property developers, Plastic Omnium Environment will be unveiling a brand new product at this year’s exhibition.
M4 is the company’s latest addition to a range of underground and semi-underground waste disposal systems.

Presona
Presona UK will be launching a new range of modular conveyors designed for rugged recycling and waste management plants.
With a history of designing and supplying bespoke conveyor systems to support its LP Series balers, Presona has designed a conveyor system which can be fitted to any make of baler and responds directly to the demands of recycling and waste management plants.
Presona UK conveyors are designed and built by a UK engineering team in Bridgwater, Somerset. The first three conveyors have already been built and installed at sites across the UK and are now operational.

Egbert Taylor Group
The Droitwich-based Egbert Taylor Group has announced it will be unveiling its latest 360 degree waste solutions offering at RWM 2016.
This will include a combined technology that supports fill-level monitoring, dynamic route optimisation, enhanced fleet management and GPS functionality, collects data and informs collection and management teams when individual waste containers are ready to be emptied.
The launch, which has been described by chief executive, Brendan Murphy, as a new era in ‘on-demand waste collection,’ will deliver efficiency gains by reducing collection frequency and decreasing the operational cost of waste collection and the carbon emissions associated with waste collection vehicle movements.

Middleton Engineering
Recycling equipment engineering company, Middleton Engineering will be advising visitors on achieving bale quality and optimising payload weights for container transportation at RWM.
The emphasis will be on the company’s latest Scapa range of energy efficient twin ram balers now available in 80, 100, 120 and 150 tonne configurations, designed to bale the widest range of waste streams including RDF, hard plastics and commercial and industrial waste.
The Middleton twin ram baler design includes multiple operator parameters plus production and performance data, bale and time counters, automatic power saving motor controls and a fully integrated diagnostics system for customer support and remote diagnostics direct form engineers in the factory.
