The newly launched buy-recycled.co.uk website aims to give the public information on recycled products and dispel the myth that products made from recycled materials are second-rate goods. It aims to raise waste awareness by encouraging the public to recycle more materials and to purchase more products and packaging made from recyclate.
Sarah Incher, chairperson of the Buy Recycled Campaign, said: “Dealing with the waste we make has to start when we go shopping. If each and every one of us thinks before we buy we can reduce the waste we make and by buying recycled goods we can close the loop.”
The site also has a wordsearch and crossword that can be downloaded and used by children either in the classroom or as a fun activity at home.
Tina Deegan, Buy Recycled Officer for Larac, said that the site had been funded by Larac (the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee) itself and would be promoted by recycling officers across the UK.
Larac itself will launch its own website later this year.
