The global summit and fashion showcase will take place from 22 to 23 May 2025 in Accra, Ghana.
It will see global leaders and industry stakeholders convene to discuss driving meaningful change in the fashion and textile industries.
The event is set to have 500 delegates in attendance in person and up to 5,000 virtual participants from around the world.
At its core, Landfills to Landmarks 2025 aims to achieve 100% diversion of textile waste from Ghana’s landfills by 2050.
Both the BHF’s retail director Allison Swaine-Hughes and the charity’s sustainability manager David Roman will attend the summit to speak and sit on panel discussions.
Swaine-Hughes said: “The British Heart Foundation has a commitment to reduce, re-use and recycle our resources so that there is no avoidable waste.
“We will always start with re-using what we can within the UK, and we have a very strong retail presence which means we can maximize the potential for this route.
“However, like most used clothing in the UK, the rest will be exported for reuse. That is why we are supporting this exciting initiative and lending our expertise to ensure end to end engagement in greater traceability of used textiles.”
The summit will also launch CremeXchange – the world’s first downstream textile traceability software.
The BHF is currently partnered with Sait Recycling which specialises in the reuse and recycling of textiles collected in the UK which is also involved with Landfills to Landmarks.
The charity and recycler will share their expertise to help Landfills to Landmarks build an end-to-end traceability system.
This will in turn help BHF gain greater visibility in the export process and quality assurance of second-hand clothing.
