One of the waste and recycling industrys top golf tournaments, dubbed the Masters of Waste, was held at the end of March at the renowned Brocket Hall golf course in Hertfordshire.
Biffa Waste Services triumphed at the event with a strong all-round performance,to take the prize of first place out of 27 teams of four competitors. The Biffa team scored a total of 93 points.
Close behind Biffa and in second place was Hunts Waste Recycling of Dagenham with 92 points. And, in third place were last years winners, Powerday, with 88 points.
Individual
On the individual front, the winner wasMike Goodgame representing ASM Ltd with a score of 43 points.
The Masters of Waste traditionally features a range of other golf challenges and expert performances by golf presenters. This year this included a Wheelie Bin Challenge, sponsored by Taylor Bins which was won by Scott Edgell from Veolia Environmental Services.
The prize for the Longest Drive, sponsored by Shanks, was won byRyan Wallace representing Alutrade. And, the Nearest the Pin award, sponsored by Biffa, was won byVincent Masseri of Veolia ES.
Event
The annual event, which attracts players from all sectors of industry, is organised by letsrecycle.com and raises funds for the Child Bereavement Charity.
Speaking at a dinner at Brocket Hall held after the event, letsrecycle.coms commercial director Rob Mowat said: I would like to thank everyone who took part in todays golf. I hope you all enjoyed the day and it was really good to see such a spread of companies here able to network. I would also like to thank all our supporters from many sectors of the industry.
Charity
Mr Mowat also revealed that 1,400 had been raised for the golf days charity, the Child Bereavement Charity, thanks to donations from guests as well as the donation from Environcom of an ipad 2 for a charity raffle.
This ipad, which had been repaired and bought back to market, was presented by Sean Feeney, chief executive of Environcom, to the winner Keith McGurk of Veolia ES.
