Aylesford brings show of colour to Torbay

Any fears that the waste industry might give Torbay a less than colourful vista in June will be dispelled thanks to a sponsorship agreement been Aylesford Newsprint and Torbay Borough Council.

In the run-up to the Institute of Wastes Management (IWM) conference, Aylesford is supporting the local authority’s Bay Blooms

project, which provides seasonal planting to enhance the local environment throughout the year.

“Sponsorship of Torbay’s floral features is a good example of how we work in partnership with local authorities,” says Aylesford Newsprint's recycling manager, Chris White. “The fact that Torbay hosts the annual IWM conference in June is an added bonus.”

Torbay Borough Council's Bay Blooms project is a partnership between community members and businesses to enhance the local environment with floral displays, parks and open spaces as well as general environmental cleanliness. As well as town action groups and the 300 entrants of a local competition, individuals and businesses can sponsor the project from as little as a 50 hanging basket to the thousands of pounds for a high-profile roundabout.
