The Environment Agency has appointed two new executive directors this week to oversee key areas of its remit.

The two appointees had already been engaged in the roles on an interim basis. Mr Bradshaw had previously held the position of Regulated Industry director, and has a background in waste regulation.

Augean appoints non-executive director
Rod Holdsworth is to join the Board of Augean as non-executive director effective from 23 March.
The current non-executive director, Rory Macnamara, who is also chairman of the Audit Committee, has notified the Board of his intention to step down at the next Annual General Meeting in June.
Mr Holdsworth, who will also become Audit Committee chairman on Mr Macnamara’s departure, brings financial expertise to the waste specialist firm with more than 20 years’ board level experience gained in the support services and manufacturing sectors.
He joins Augean having previously served as finance director at Morrison plc, the construction and support services division owned by Anglian Water Group plc.
Jim Meredith, Augean chairman, said: “We are delighted to welcome Rod to Augean as a non-executive director. He will take over the Chairmanship of the Audit Committee from Rory Macnamara, when Rory steps down from the Board at the AGM, after almost ten years of service to Group, and brings a wealth of senior financial experience to the Board, which will be invaluable as Augean continues to deliver its strategy for growth.

Plevin appoints group operations manager
Manchester-based wood waste recycler Plevin has appointed Gareth Mason as its new group operations manager to support operations across all their processing sites.
Mr Mason has been employed as sales manager at the firm since February 2014 and has managed the incoming waste wood process for its four recycling facilities. He also promoted the company’s Snowflake and Woodpecker pet and equine bedding brands.
In previous jobs he held positions of works director and production manager for seven and ten years respectively – experience which Plevin hopes “will hold him in good stead” to manage the Manchester, South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire sites.

WRA re-elects Board members
Three current Board members of the Wood Recyclers Association (WRA) have been re-elected to help oversee its management between now and 2019.
The election, which took place earlier this month, saw the three members – Geoff Hadfield, David Laing and Paul Caldwell – facing a vote to retain their seats.
The Association works to promote the interests of the wood recycling sector in the UK, providing a voice for the sector on a national and EU level. It has recently helped its members respond to the Environment Agency’s Fire Prevention Plan guidance.
Chair of the WRA, Andy Hill, said: “We had a great turn out by members voting for the elections this year which is really encouraging. The WRA plays a vital role in the UK’s wood recycling sector and it is crucial we have a strong Board to take us forward.”

Dairy UK announces new environment manager
Dairy UK – a trade association for milk processors and bottled milk buyers – has appointed Chloe McGregor as its new environment manager.
Ms McGregor, who joins from a background of farming, environment and politics, will help raise awareness of the dairy industry’s credentials.
The UK dairy industry has recently come under increased pressure from plastics reprocessors – reflected in the fact that the price of virgin rHDPE for milk bottles has become more competitive than recycled material.
Ms McGregor said: “I have always been interested in the way essential products, such as dairy, are produced and their benefit to the diet compared with their impact on the environment. The diversity of the environmental initiatives that Dairy UK is working on is both exciting and challenging and I am thrilled to be part of the process to drive the dairy supply chain forward.”
Dr Judith Bryans, Chief Executive of Dairy UK, said: “The dairy industry takes its environmental responsibilities very seriously. Chloe is a very welcome addition to the Dairy UK team.”
