Control Room Operative

Salary up to £24,000 plus overtime

Closing date 28 Nov 2017

We’re looking for people to help us operate and maintain Waterbeach Waste Management Park – our state-of-the-art waste treatment plant near Cambridge.

We deliver a range of waste services from our 400 acre Waste Management Park at Waterbeach – about three miles north of Cambridge. The site has four technology parks;
• A state-of-the-art materials recycling facility (MRF), which can process mixed recyclable materials from households and businesses.
• Mechanical Biological Treatment facility – this takes all of Cambridgeshire’s residual (black bag) waste.
• Composting.
• Landfill.

In total, the site manages over 300,000 tonnes of waste every year, including all of Cambridgeshire’s household rubbish. The site is looking to expand in further technologies which could lead to the development of a brand new treatment plant.

We are looking for a Control Room Operative to work within our Mechanical Biological Treatment plant. You will be responsible for monitoring plant performance to ensure the facility continues to operate effectively. You will also be responsible for the deployment of staff – checking that they have followed the appropriate risk assessment and method statements. You will also be responsible for third party contractors on site. You will also plan daily allocations to make sure the capacity remains within the plant.

It would be ideal if you had some previous experience of working in a control room and deploying staff to work. It is also essential that you understand the importance of health and safety. There is good moral and ethic amongst the team – so it would be great if you were someone who could work well in a team!

We operate on three different shift patterns:
• 06:00am – 14:00pm
• 14:00pm – 22:00pm
• 22:00pm – 06:00am

The salary is up to £24,000 per annum based on a 40 hour week. There is also potential for overtime which would be paid at the following rates:
• Time and a half on Saturdays.
• Double time on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Amey also offer a great benefits package. You will be entitled to 24 days annual leave plus 8 days bank holidays! We also have a pension plan, retail discounts, salary sacrifice schemes, including childcare vouchers and a Cycle to Work scheme, and dental/health/travel insurance. There is also a potential for overtime to be offered.
