Producer Responsibility for packaging.
The evidence generated from the first consultation for packaging EPR in 2019 have informed this second round, the result of which will have an unprecedented impact on packaging producer responsibility beyond 2021.
The proposals represent radical reform to the way in which producers are held accountable for the packaging they create and sell – for example the new Extended Producer Responsibility measures are set to include modulated fees and full net cost recovery, dramatically increasing costs for producers.
The consultation is due to close on 4 June 2021. It is open to responses from anyone, not just technical experts, and it is crucial there is a wide range of respondents with an equal representation of views to achieve the best regulatory outcome.
