Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority is about to embark on a 5 year project to develop and implement our Procurement Plan for a significant waste service.

To support this pivotal development, we are seeking a Project Manager to manage complex workstreams relating to the waste services project, whilst supporting our wider organisational, financial, strategic, procurement and supplier arrangements.

The postholder will work closely with relevant in-house expert officers/teams and external specialist support.

Key areas of work will include reviewing and maintaining workstreams in support of the procurement programme, alongside other associated workstreams, as well as monitoring and reporting on delivery, budget and risk. We are therefore looking for someone with significant project management, organisation and communication skills to join our team.

 About You

  • You will have an excellent track record of working in waste management and managing projects within a complex environment using recognised industry standard project management methods , and delivering these projects to time, quality and cost.
  • You will possess exceptional people skills, with the ability to demonstrate initiative and prioritise effectively.
  • You will possess the ability to lead, negotiate and make decisions to take forward the programme of projects with stakeholders, whilst being customer focused.
  • You will need to be able to maintain project documentation, have strong communication skills and be able to engage with stakeholders at all levels in a proactive, politically sensitive manner.

 

Essential skills

  • Experience of working in a complex projects/programmes environment and delivery of outputs/outcomes to time, budget, quality, scope.
  • Experience in procurement of major contracts within the waste sector
  • Excellent supplier relationship, contract, and commercial management awareness.
  • Stakeholder engagement at all levels.
  • Strong self-starter and exceptional organisational skills
