Policy Officer

We’re looking for an experienced Policy Officer to join the LARAC staff. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual looking to represent the voice of local authorities at a UK level.

LARAC Ltd is a high-profile membership organisation representing every type of local authority in waste and recycling issues across the UK. We have a small but very efficient team of staff supporting over 300 council members and almost 1100 individual council officers.

We are in exciting times as new waste policies are going to challenge local authorities in the coming years. As our Policy Officer you will engage and network with not only LARAC members but a variety of external organisations too, making sure we meet the LARAC vision of being the leading voice for local authorities on recycling, waste and resource management.

Although based at home, you will attend meetings, conferences and exhibitions across the UK and so we are looking for someone who has excellent people skills and can develop networks effectively. With current experience and knowledge of local authority waste and recycling, you will also need to have experience of evaluating a range of policy options and producing clear recommendations.

LARAC is a membership organisation, so ensuring our members are represented and given the information they need is vital. You will need a strong ability to organise your own time effectively, to create your own work schedules, set realistic timescales and meet deadlines.

As well as working from home with LARAC providing all the equipment you need, the post benefits from 29 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, 4% employer contribution to the company pension scheme, contribution to broadband costs and flexible working will be considered.
