Biffas Ravensthorpe materials recycling facility (MRF) is back operating as normal after a shredder fire caused explosions to be heard at the site during the early hours of Saturday morning (May 30).

West Yorkshire fire service was called to the incident at Low Mill Lane in Dewsbury at around 2.20am, using two large jets to extinguish the fire to the Doppstadt shredder before leaving the scene at around 5am.
There are no reported injuries, Biffa said, although the cause of the incident is not yet known.
A spokesman for the waste management firm said the explosions heard were tyres exploding on the shredder.
The Ravensthorpe MRF handles 100,000 tonnes of material each year from Biffas network of depots in Yorkshire. The site also produces a refuse derived fuel for export through contracts in Germany and Denmark.
Biffa and the fire service said they would now investigate the incident as well as undertaking a structural review of the building, although the firm said the site was safe.

The spokesman said: Because of our good housekeeping and procedures the fire was contained to the shredder with no damage to the building or fire damage to stock. Initial investigation is that the fire started in the engine bay of the shredder.
The spokesman added: Biffa would like to reassure its neighbours and customers that the site is safe and any necessary measures to ensure a similar situation does not occur in the future will be implemented following the results of the investigation.
Biffa said it had informed the Environment Agency as a courtesy but that there are not thought to be any environmental issues at this stage.
