The list recognised inventions “set to change the world”, with Greyparrot nominated for its potential to unlock what the company calls “waste intelligence”.
Each year, TIME’s editors compile the list to highlight breakthroughs across emerging fields, from health care and education to artificial intelligence (AI) and green technology.
To assemble this year’s 300 featured inventions, the publication solicited global nominations, evaluating candidates on originality, efficacy, ambition and global impact, with particular attention to advances in AI.
Commenting on the recognition, Greyparrot co-founder Ambarish Mitra said: “Being recognised by TIME is more than an honour; it’s validation that AI can transform the post-consumption world into a visible, valuable system – one that helps solve our planet’s most urgent challenges.
“This also marks the next big conversation in climate action: moving beyond carbon and using waste intelligence to track, recover and reuse the products we produce.”
Greyparrot’s AI-powered technology
Greyparrot’s Analyser uses an AI-powered camera system to capture and analyse waste streams within recycling facilities.
The camera classifies materials across 111 categories and identifies packaging types and brans at industrial scale.
According to the company, the system can track 99% of material passing through a facility to provide recyclers with live data.
The data collected by the Analyzer has also enabled the development of Deepnest, Greyparrot’s analytics platform designed to give brands and packaging producers visibility into how their products fare once they enter the global waste system.
Mitra continued: “Waste has long been one of humanity’s greatest blind spots. The Analyzer doesn’t just see waste – it understands it.
“It turns chaos into clarity, giving us truth in real time about what we throw away, what gets recovered, and what doesn’t.”
