RAGS announces new executive members

RAGS (Recycling Advisory Group Scotland) is celebrating a 20% increase in its membership base, said its vice chairman Graeme Cunningham.

Mr Cunnigham, speaking at the organisations' AGM held last week, also announced the names of the newly elected members to the RAGS Executive Committee for 2002 to 2003. The new members include: Tony Cassidy of Alloa Community Enterprises, Angus Macpherson of Enviromac, Graeme Cunningham of Falkirk Council, Donna Niven of Keep Scotland Beautiful, Alan Millar of Argyll and Bute Council, Joanna Muse of SEPA, John Forsyth of BGRC, Nicki Soutar of SWAG, Kenny Green of Action Recycle, Ian Glassford of Lanarkshire Association for Mental Health.

Activities were also highlighted for the year ahead, and RAGS treasurer Angus Macpherson said these would remain “the delivery of topical conferences and seminars including the two-day conference in November, which is to be held in Perth in association with recycling and waste management exhibition, Wastex.”

Other activities RAGS says it look forward to participating in include the national HHW (household hazardous waste) project being delivered in partnership with SWAP and SEPA; the employment of more local community waste officers; an increased role in the support and development of the community recycling sector.

RAGS also thanked the Scottish Executive for their assistance with funding the setting up of the community network as were United Glass who had sponsored the RAGS website.
