UK Packaging PRO appoints Dan Acheson as EPR Specialist
UK Packaging PRO has appointed Dan Acheson as EPR Specialist to support the organisation’s work on packaging Extended Producer Responsibility (pEPR).
Acheson joins from PackUK, where he spent the past year as Policy Delivery Manager for the Recyclability Assessment Methodology (RAM).
Prior to his secondment, he worked at WRAP as an analyst within its policy and insights team.
In his new role, Acheson said his work will continue to focus on the RAM “in the near term”, as UK Packaging PRO develops the system.
Posting on LinkedIn, he said: “It is exciting to join during this phase of organisational growth, and a great opportunity to heavily contribute to the development of a more circular economy for packaging in the UK.

UK Packaging PRO was appointed in March 2026 as the UK pEPR scheme’s Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO), taking on a number of functions previously carried out by scheme administrator PackUK.
Deputy Director General joins BSDA from Rail Delivery Group
The British Soft Drinks Association (BSDA) has appointed Hannah Moxon as its new Deputy Director General.
Moxon joins the trade association with nearly 15 years of experience in trade association leadership and advocacy. She previously served as Chief of Staff at the Rail Delivery Group and Director of External Affairs at Rail Partners.
In her new role, Moxon will support the BSDA as it expands its capacity to represent the UK soft drinks sector, which is valued at £26bn.
The association said she joins at an important time, with the sector facing a “fast-moving regulatory and policy landscape”. Key areas of focus for the BSDA include the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS), Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and health-focused regulation.
The BSDA said Moxon’s experience would “further strengthen” its ability to represent the sector, adding that she looks forward to meeting members and stakeholders in due course.
Solomon Ede moves to Fife Council as Circular Economy Strategy Officer
Fife Council has appointed Solomon Ede as its new Circular Economy Strategy Officer.
Ede joins from West Lothian Council, where he spent six years as a Senior Environmental Enforcement Officer, working on environmental standards, compliance and cross-sector partnerships.
He is also Scotland Executive Representative for the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC).
In his new role, Ede will focus on developing and delivering Fife’s circular economy strategy, including its long-term Action Plan and resource management.
On LinkedIn, Ede said his focus would be on “macro-governance” of the region’s resource footprint, including aligning frameworks with upcoming UK ETS voluntary milestones and improving data across resource streams.
He commented: “We have already hit the ground running. I want to extend my sincere thanks to my Manager Sandy Anderson, my mentor and colleague Janet Mackenzie (MCIWM) and the rest of the team for the exceptional warm welcome to the organisation and the trust to drive immediate interventions.
“I look forward to collaborating closely with our regional teams, industry vendors, and national partners across Zero Waste Scotland and SEPA as we drive Fife’s circular economy roadmap forward.”
Griffiths Waste Management appoints Divisional Managing Director
Griffiths Waste Management has appointed Darren Griffiths as its new Divisional Managing Director as the business continues to invest and expand.
Darren joins the Swansea-headquartered business with experience across the waste management and environmental services sector, having held several senior commercial and leadership roles.
Despite sharing the surname, Darren has no family connection to the Griffiths family and joined following an external search.
In his new role, he will lead the continued development of Griffiths Waste Management, working with the wider group leadership team on its operational and commercial ambitions.

Darren’s appointment gives us additional leadership capacity to build on that progress and take the business through its next stage of development.”

Altilium appoints Lord Peach as Board Adviser
Altilium has appointed Air Chief Marshal The Lord Stuart Peach as Board Advisor for Defence, Resilience & Sovereign Supply Chains.
Peach will advise the UK clean technology company on engagement with government, defence organisations and industry, as Altilium develops its role in the recovery and production of critical battery materials.
He previously served as UK Chief of Defence Staff and Chair of NATO’s Military Committee, and is now a Crossbench Peer in the House of Lords.
Peach said: “The circular economy is vital to our national resilience. Within that, we need to develop – quickly – a sovereign materiel strategy to develop the capabilities we need for defence, national security and growth.”
Altilium recovers materials including lithium, nickel, cobalt and graphite from end-of-life electric vehicle batteries for reuse in new cell production.
The appointment comes as the company expands its operations, having secured £18.5m in government funding earlier this year for its ACT 3 facility in Plymouth, described as the UK’s first commercial refinery for recovering critical battery materials from end-of-life EV batteries.
