At present, Oran Waste UK specialises in dry waste recovery and recycling, water and waste water treatment, and disposal and recycling of organic materials.
It has been under the ownership of the Irish-owned Oran Group, which specialises in property investment, after being acquired in 2005 when it was known as the Snowie Group (see letsrecycle.com story).
The company claims that it already shares common priorities with the Response Group and that there would be “no immendiate plans for any redundancies following the aquisition”.
Doug Aitchison, managing director of Oran Waste UK Ltd, said: “There are many synergies between the Response Group and Oran Waste UK Ltd, including core environmental services, a commitment to continual improvement and the desire to build long term relationships with employees, customers, suppliers and the communities in which both operate. We are very excited about the new opportunities that this now presents.”
Revenues
The Response Group provides services ranging from drinking water production to the treatment of waste water and industrial effluent.
The company claims that the takeover will give it a combined revenues of almost £80 million – making it one of the largest privately owned companies of its kind in Ireland and the UK.
Response Group chairman Noel Hanley said: “This is an extremely positive step for the Response Group and Oran Waste Ltd, providing an exciting milestone in the development of both companies and of the Group.
“The acquisition marks an important addition to the Response Group's existing business portfolio, whilst providing Oran Waste Ltd with the improved resources including industry experience and expertise and financial resources. Our corporate development plan also includes a pipeline of other potential strategic international opportunities in the making,” he added.
