Organisations hoping to enter the Awards for Excellence 2026 have just one week left to complete their submissions, with the extended deadline closing at the end of the day on Thursday 26 February 2026.

The Awards, now in their 23rd year, recognise outstanding achievements across the UK’s waste, recycling, reuse and resource management sector. Entries are free of charge, and with 21 categories spanning innovation, circularity, local authority performance, technology, organics and social value, the event continues to be one of the most anticipated in the industry calendar.

This year’s ceremony will take place on 13 May 2026 at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House, London, and will be hosted by comedian and broadcaster Jimmy Carr, bringing added energy and profile to the occasion.

A host set to bring an extra spark to the ceremony

Jimmy Carr, one of the UK’s most recognisable entertainers, is known for his razor‑sharp delivery, quick‑fire one‑liners and high‑profile presenting roles, including 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and The Big Fat Quiz of the Year. His involvement is expected to add a lively, fast‑paced dynamic to the ceremony, making this year’s Awards an even more memorable celebration for shortlisted organisations and their guests.

Showcasing sector excellence

The Awards shine a spotlight on excellence across local authorities, operators, innovators, community projects and partnerships. Categories new for 2026 include Energy from Waste Innovation / Achievement of the Year, reflecting the growing interest in energy optimisation and carbon reduction across the sector.

Winners will be selected by an independent judging panel made up of senior industry figures, with the shortlist due to be announced the week commencing 2 March 2026.
