Biffa made ‘sustainability partner’ of British basketball

Waste management company Biffa has been announced as the official “sustainability partner” of Super League Basketball.

The three-year collaboration will see Biffa assist clubs and venues across the Men’s and Women’s Leagues in crafting and implementing their sustainability strategies, including reducing waste and encouraging reuse and recycling.

Pam Conway, group marketing director at Biffa, commented: “We’re delighted to announce this game-changing partnership with Super League Basketball and continuing our commitment to British basketball.

“We want to change the way communities think about waste and this partnership provides a fantastic platform to engage with the UK’s second most popular sport for young people. By educating and inspiring the next generation through a sport they love, we can help them play their part in protecting the environment and building a sustainable future for all.

“We’re also proud to be partnering with both the Men’s and Women’s leagues, working with all League clubs to help them be cleaner, greener and leaner when it comes to waste. We can’t wait to get started at the Trophy Finals in Birmingham next weekend and look forward to working with Super League Basketball, clubs and the basketball community over the next three years.”

Biffa and the League (with the support of its clubs) will lead programmes designed to teach the British basketball community about sustainability and reducing waste.

Super League Basketball interim chair Vaughn Millette added: “We’re thrilled to unveil this landmark partnership between Super League Basketball and Biffa as we pursue a shared goal of creating a more sustainable future.

“This collaboration represents more than a simple partnership; it reflects our unified dedication to making a tangible difference for the environment. I’m eager to see our franchises and stakeholders join forces with the League and Biffa to bring our vision to life.

“By combining our strengths, we will inspire real progress, empower communities, and build a lasting legacy of environmental care and social responsibility.”
