Valpak appoints IT director to operations hot seat

Steve Gough is moving into one of the UK's recycling hot seats as Valpak’s director of operations. He will oversee the packaging compliance scheme’s customer relations programme, the purchasing of packaging recovery notes (PRNs) and the expansion of the glass recycling agenda.

Mr Gough was previously IT Director for Valpak, which is the largest packaging waste compliance scheme and replaces Graeme Carus who is joining European Metal Recycling. Mr Gough led the development of Valpak’s online data submission process by which around 50% of members submit their annual packaging data.

A spokeswoman for Valpak said: “Having worked for Valpak for almost two years, Steve has an in depth knowledge of the company and the industry which gives him the advantage of being able to hit the ground running.”

Mr Gough said: “I’m looking forward to this challenging role particularly in light of the dynamic nature of the industry in which we operate. The cornerstone of Valpak’s business is its strong, long-standing relationships with reprocessors as well as its ability to develop innovative ideas. I anticipate that we will continue to expand on the success of our glass collection programme as well as providing top quality customer service for our members.”
