UK biomass fuel supplier Seras has acquired Enva’s dedicated wood processing business, including three sites in Manchester, Middlesbrough and Tilbury.

The acquisition, which took effect immediately, sees Seras take over the dedicated waste wood recycling operations from Enva UK Opco.

The business processes grades A-C waste wood into products including animal bedding, panel board feedstock and biomass fuel.

According to Seras, the Manchester site, formerly operated by Hadfield Wood Recyclers, can process more than 50 tonnes of grade A wood per hour.

The deal strengthens the company’s position in the UK’s waste wood biomass fuel industry, while providing an entry into markets for sustainable products such as animal bedding.

Richard Jenkins, CEO of Seras, said: “This is an exciting time of growth for our business. We’re delighted to be announcing this acquisition, which combines our expertise in waste wood management, wood skip services and biomass fuel supply, with that of Enva’s dedicated wood processing across the UK.”

Expansion of Seras’ biomass operations

The acquisition will expand Seras’ UK footprint, adding northern locations in Manchester and Middlesbrough and strengthening its processing operations in Tilbury.

Seras said it welcomes the Enva Wood team and its customer base, with a focus on a smooth transition during the handover.

Neil Spencer, commercial director at Seras, said the acquisition was a “fantastic strategic fit” with the company’s growth plans.

He added: “It ensures we can offer additional Northern locations, in Manchester and Middlesbrough, whilst strengthening our processing operations in Tilbury.”

“In welcoming the Enva Wood team to Seras, I want to reinforce our commitment to providing all our customers with a reliable and efficient service.”

“The team will continue to seek out strategic opportunities, ensuring Seras’ newly expanded business operation continues to grow and thrive in the waste wood sector.”

Seras’s operations include biomass fuel production, waste wood processing and storage, and a commercial skip business.
