Mr Gulland joins ACE on January 27 and will leave his current post of development worker for RAGS – Scotland's Recycling Advisory Group – which he took up in June 2001.
Tony Cassidy, general manager of ACE, said: “I have worked closely with lain in my capacity as chairman of RAGS and I am delighted that he has accepted this position with us. Over the years ACE has grown to such an extent that I do not have as much time to spend on development as I would like and I can think of no person better qualified to assist with development than lain.”
Mr Gulland said: “The job offer was too good an opportunity to turn down and I really do want to get back to doing something practical. I have enjoyed working for RAGS immensely and I still hope to be involved in some capacity if practical.”
Last month it was announced that RAGS has been awarded 120,000 by the Scottish Executive to support the Community Recycling Network for Scotland initiative. The news came as the organisation was picking up the pieces after its office in Edinburgh's Cowgate area was destroyed in the city centre fire.
